Our "today"
BDI Holding GmbH operates as the financially strong holding company of the internationally active BDI Group. The business areas of our subsidiaries range from special plant construction in the renewable energy sector to the production of pure, algae-based life science products.
Since its first day of existence, BDI has been committed to researching and developing new, environmentally friendly technologies.
In order to constantly provide new impetuses to the spirit of development, we operate our own research and development center and promote close cooperation with renowned universities and research institutes.
In this way, we develop our own technological lead and, through investments and partnerships, help creative researchers turn their ideas into reality. This creates new, future-oriented fields of business.
Our claim to technological leadership in all areas of activity is confirmed by our company's history. We have made "lateral" or "out-of-the-box" thinking our maxim. Our actions demonstrate focus on new, individualized ways of solving problems for our customers.
Today, under the umbrella of BDI Holding, the group of companies stands for the competence to supply customers with complete "GreenTech Process Solutions". Each of our subsidiaries relies on their individual skills and expertise in order to offer their customers a wide selection of products and services.
From the development of new technologies for the processing, conversion or manufacture of the highest-quality products from biogenic raw materials to the handover of turnkey plants, the use of cross-company synergies enables us to set new technological standards and thus repeatedly define benchmarks in the environmental technology sector.

Our "yesterday"
BDI-Anlagenbau GmbH was founded in 1996 as a management buy-out of the Vogel & Noot Group. The "out-of-the-box" thinking of the founders, Wilhelm Hammer and Helmut Gössler, not only led to enormous growth of the company itself, but also to the definition of its own market segment: the biodiesel industry.
The economic efforts were crowned with a successful IPO in 2006.
Far-reaching changes in the field of renewable energy have made the market environment rougher in recent years. However, thanks to its extensive know-how and technological lead, BDI remains a major player in the global biofuel sector.
In 2015, a spin-off from the company's own biofuel research opened the way to the strongly growing international business field of life sciences. This primarily involves the production of natural raw materials for the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries and represents yet another important development step for the group.
The specially founded BDI-BioLife Science GmbH is successful in this new, interesting business area with algae-based materials of the highest quality for the B2B sector.
